North West Local Government and Human Settlements ensures construction skills for young people

Forty young people of Khunwana village in the Tswaing local municipality will be trained to acquire different housing construction skills that will change their lives. This was announced during the Youth Build 2016 which was launched by the Premier of Bokone Bophirima, Supra Mahumapelo and MEC for Local Government and Human Settlements Galaletsang Gaolaolwe, in Khunwana village over the weekend.

200 Breaking New Ground houses are to be built in Khunwana as part of 1976 Youth Build Programme which has been allocated R200 million.

One other young person who is part of Youth Brigade, Pulane Mogapi couldn't stop thanking the department for the opportunity. "Staying in Khunwana village with less opportunities, chances like these comes only once. We are very much grateful to be offered the opportunity and we will grab and make full use of it", said Mogapi.

Premier Mahumapelo who was accompanied by MEC Gaolaolwe and by other MECs during the launch participated in building a house for Mantoko Moalusi in Khunwana village to officially launch Youth Build 2016.

Premier Mahumapelo indicated that: "The 200 houses allocated to Khunwana village will be constructed by young housing developers in the province. Over 40 young people from this village will trained in different fields which include brick laying, plastering and plumbing. The skills acquired should go a long way in changing their lives", he said.
