Trade and Industry invites companies to participate in outward selling and investment mission to Singapore and Malaysia

The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) invites companies to apply for participation in the Outward Selling and Investment Mission (OSIM) to Singapore and Malaysia. The mission will take place from 25 to 29 July 2016.

The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Mzwandile Masina says the mission serves to promote South Africa’s product and service offerings in high growth Asian markets.

“The mission forms part of the dti’s objective to create and identify export markets and investment partners for South African value-added products and services in Southeast Asia,” adds Masina.

He highlights that this mission in particular, will be ideal for South African companies looking for investment and technical partners in the agro-processing sector.

According to Masina, the dti has planned a programme of activities, which will include trade and investment seminar, mini exhibitions, business-to-business meetings and site visits.

Manufacturers and exporters in the agro-processing sector, including processed raw meat, sea food, fruit juices, fresh, dried and canned fruit, olive oil, canned foods, sauces, nuts and rooibos tea are encouraged to apply.

Participating companies will be assisted through the dti’s Export Marketing and Investment Assistance Scheme (EMIA) which will include hotel accommodation, return airfares, excess baggage and Business-to-business meetings.

The closing date for applications is 25 May 2015 and more information can be obtained from the dti website: www.thedti.gov.za
