Gauteng Legislature conducts oversight visit to sites of three projects, 8 Sept

Committee to conduct oversight visits at DID projects

Led by Acting Chairperson, Honourable Godfrey Tsotetsi, the Legislature’s (GPL) Portfolio Committee on Infrastructure Development will conduct oversight visits to sites of three projects being implemented by the Department of Infrastructure Development.  The three sites are schools where the contractors have abandoned the projects due to issues relating to late payment. These will take place on Thursday, 8 September 2016.

Oversight visits are part of the Committee’s Focus Intervention Study (FIS), titled: Poor workmanship by contractors and late payment of contractors as factors to project delays.

The FIS aims to provide the impetus and strategic direction for the Committee’s oversight role; doing away with a reactive or ad-hoc approach, and presenting a more proactive approach

The Committee is responsible for conducting oversight on the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development and oversees the Department’s programmes, expenditures and implementation of policies.

Details of the oversight visits are as follows:
