Parliament sends condolences to Zinde family and friends

The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Communications, Mr Humphrey Maxegwana, has sent condolences, on behalf of the Committee, to the family and friends of the former South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) board member, Ms Hope Zinde. Ms Zinde was found dead at her home on Sunday.

“Although the nature of her passing is not immediately clear, Ms Zinde’s untimely death sent shock waves to the media fraternity and the country at large. She was a diligent person who contributed significantly to the turnaround at the SABC, where she co-hosted news and current affairs shows and served as non-executive director at board level.”

Mr Maxegwana said that Ms Zinde still had much to offer the media industry and the country with her leadership and management experience.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Zinde family and friends during this difficult time. We call on the public to refrain from speculation and give the police the space they need to investigate her death,” said Mr Maxegwana.
