COGTA & Human Settlements Portfolio Committee engages Gauteng community development workers
On Wednesday, the Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on CoGTA & Human Settlements will meet with the Department and Community Development Workers (CDWs) from all corners of Gauteng. Led by Honourable Chairperson, Mohatla Phutas Tseki, the Portfolio Committee has scheduled this engagement in response to challenges within communities, with the aim of strengthening working relations with CDWs.
CDWs are tasked to address the gap between government’s service delivery programmes and the people who should benefit from these services; and assist communities to identify and communicate their needs and concerns to government. Their work involves connecting communities with government and identifying issues that pose serious service delivery challenges.
Visibility of CDWs in communities; their role within the assigned communities; and the quality of capacity given to CDWs will greatly assist to make government more responsive and advance confidence to the people of Gauteng.
The Portfolio Committee will convene the Workshop as follows:
Date: Wednesday, 19th July 2017
Starting Time: 10h00
Venue: Germiston Civic Centre.
Members of the media are invited to attend.
