Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Deputy Minister, Honourable Andries Nel will address the Institute for Security Studies Seminar themed: Violent protests: are municipalities listening?
Key issues to be covered by the Deputy Minister will include the COGTA perspective that make local government susceptible to be the target of protests; challenges faced by local government in dealing with community grievances associated with local government and service delivery issues; challenges faced by local government in dealing with protests in general as well as dealing with violence associated with other protests and the interventions implemented by COGTA to help respond to grievances that may help prevent the violence.
