Free State Premier’s statement on changes in the Free State Executive Council

1. After thorough consultation with all relevant stakeholders, Free State Premier Hon. Ace Magashule has made the following changes to the provincial cabinet
2. Hon. Limakatso Mahasa, has been appointed as the new MEC for Social Development. Hon. Mahasa was formerly the chairperson of the Free State Legislature’s committee on Governance, which is responsible for Cooperative Governance, Office of the Premier and Legislature. As a young person, Hon. Mahasa, will add an enriched and vibrant flavour into the provincial cabinet
3. Hon. Sisi Ntombela is the new MEC for CoGTA and Human Settlements. Hon. Ntombela replaces Me. Olly Mlamleli as MEC of CoGTA and HS. The latter has been elected as the Executive Mayor of Mangaung Metro Municipality following the 3 August local government elections
4. Dr. Benny Malakoane has been moved from the Department of Health, and is the new MEC for Economic and Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs
5. Hon. Butana Komphela in the new MEC of Health, leaving his previous position as MEC for Police, Roads and Transport
6. The former MEC for Economic and Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Hon. Sam Mashinini, is the new MEC for Police, Roads & Transport
7. The above changes to the provincial cabinet followed rigorous consultations of different stakeholders, from both within and outside of the province. The Premier wishes all MECs well in their new areas of deployment. The march towards radical socio-economic transformation is in constant motion and we will work together to ensure that the lives of our people are changed for the better.
