The Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in partnership with the Department of the Premier and Free State Department of Education will host a career guidance exhibition in Allanridge. This career guidance exhibition is aimed at guiding learners of Allanridge about the various career options that they can pursue when pursuing their educational journey beyond secondary school level.
Furthermore, it is aimed at exposing these learners to new vistas hence such information is seldom available in small and rural parts of our province.
The Career Guidance Exhibition will be organised as follows:
Date: 13 May 2016
Time: 8h00
Venue: Mokgothu Primary School (Nyakallong/Allanridge)
This Career Guidance Exhibition will also feature various stalls from business organisations, educational institutions, and SETAs. The Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation will also facilitate various sporting activities soon after the Career Guidance Exhibition programme has been completed. It is also anticipated that an Aircraft Simulator will be made available by Westline Aviation on the day of the event.
Immediately after the career expo, learners will be involved in various sporting activities, which have been organised to take place at Nyakallong/Allanridge stadium.
While recognising and acknowledging that schools fall within the scope of Department of Education, the Career Expo is one of the MEC Leeto’s initiatives, having adopted L.A. Wesi and Mosala Secondary Schools in Nyakallong/Allanridge.
The purpose of this initiative is to ensure that everything possible should be done to enhance the academic, behavioral and general performance of learners from these schools.
Speaking about the importance of this Career Guidance Exhibition MEC Leeto said, “Career guidance is of the utmost importance to all High School learners from Grades 8 – 12, in particular those from very rural areas such Nyakallong/Allanridge in the Lejweleputswa District, as it may influence their choice of subjects and their possibility of tertiary studies. The Nyakallong/Allanridge schools are not exposed to a variety of career options and opportunities. Maximum participation by all the SETAs in putting up their exhibition stalls will therefore be of paramount importance for the learners of Nyakallong/Allanridge.”
