2019 Cannabis Expo

As the global medical cannabis market expands, and increasing numbers of   countries legalise its use, cannabis business leaders, scientists, technology expects and influencers are preparing to meet in Bloemfontein for the Cannabis Expo. This auspicious event is an initiated of Department of economic, small business development, tourism and environmental affairs and Cannabis Development Council

The event is a follow up to a stakeholder meeting that was held between Free State departments and Cannabis Development Council of Eastern Cape and Free State. The three day program will feed into development of a strategic documents that guides the cannabis Free State industry. The event will include sharing information to raise awareness, understand relevant regulations, policy framework, explore opportunities and pave for the Free State cannabis industry development.

Cannabis Expo will bring together industry leaders from across Africa and around the world, known for their significant and grounding breaking contributions to the global medical cannabis market. Several African nations, including Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Uganda and Swaziland had been identified as key and growing players in the exploding cannabis trade

The event will focus on cannabis industry deliberations, exhibitions of agro-processing and craft manufacturing enterprises.

According to Prohibitation Partners, the cannabis and associated products market could be worth about R102 billion by 2023 throughout Africa and the region, led by South Africa, which is experiencing a boom in regional cannabis licence applications and investments.

The proposed topics will includes the following:

  • Global cannabis overview;
  • Local cannabis overview;
  • Cannabis Regulations;
  • Free State Green Economy;
  • Agro-processing- Government Support;
  • Medical Research;
  • Cannabis Production; and
  • Investment opportunities.

It has been estimated that South Africa dagga industry could become a R27 billion worth within four years. Tapping into this market requires proper planning and collaboration between both the private and public sectors. The event will comprise of conference where there will be cannabis industry discussions, also exhibitions of enterprises in the cannabis industry and lastly Botshabelo Industrial Park tour.  Priority is given to all cannabis enterprises within the province to attend and also those that are in business can be offered an opportunity to exhibit during the event.
