The Department of Public Works (DPW) is continuing to invest in the transformation of the built industry by awarding bursaries to 2015 matriculants interested in careers in the built industry.
Public Works Minister TW Nxesi, MP, will award 40 bursaries worth R130 000 each to the grade 12 class of 2015, mostly from rural, township and disadvantaged schools from 7 provinces including the Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape.
The bursaries are part of the built environment skills pipeline strategy adopted by the DPW which is aimed at addressing the built environment skills shortages. The programme is aimed at providing enough competent and professional skills through supported and funded secondary and tertiary education programmes.
