Burning infrastructure will compromise Higher Education Sector, says Committee
The Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training has voiced its concern about the ongoing burning of education infrastructure throughout the country.
The Chairperson of the Committee, Ms Connie September, said these acts of crime are likely to have a negative impact on higher education system. “As the Committee, we are calling for those tasked with ensuring safety at universities to be unwavering in their responsibility,” Ms September said.
She said burning university buildings and schools is deplorable and leads the country nowhere.
Ms September said the Committee supported the call by the Department that arsonists be found speedily and dealt with. Ms September was elected as the Chairperson of the Committee this morning following the deployment of Ms Yvonne Phosa to the Standing Committee on Appropriations.
