The Department of Basic Education will celebrate World Teachers’ Day 2016 with the launch of the Zibuza.net portal on Wednesday, 05 October 2016 at the Standard Bank Incubator in Rosebank. The Zibuza.net portal, designed and built exclusively for South African teachers, serves as an online Professional Learning Community (PLC) that promotes professional development, teacher support and appreciation.
Zibuza.net creates value by connecting teachers with the plethora of stakeholders that have a vested interest in improving the quality of education outcomes in South Africa. This vital support system includes key stakeholders such as various Government Departments, the business sector, professionals, NPOs, CSIs, Teacher Unions and education agencies.
The initiative supports the Department of Basic Education’s Teacher Appreciation and Support Programme (TASP) initiatives; and its Teacher Development and Support objectives as outlined in the Action Plan and Vision for Schooling 2025, the South African National Development Plan 2030, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
