The Department of Basic Education in collaboration with Nalibali will tomorrow, Thursday 16 February 2017 celebrate World Read Aloud Day at the uShaka Marine World in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
As part of the Departments aim to foster a culture of reading amongst learners and raise awareness of the importance of reading aloud as part of children’s literacy development, the Department and national Nalíbali reading-for-enjoyment campaign is preparing to read aloud with thousands of children on World Read Aloud Day, Thursday 16 February.
The Nalibali campaign will be hosting read-aloud sessions throughout South Africa and is calling on members of the public to join them in reading the same brand new story in the language of their choice to the children in their lives as they try to break their 2016 read-aloud record of over 300 000 children.
