The Acting MEC for Education, Father Gift van Staden officially opened the two Autumn School Camps for Top Achieving Learners today at the Diamantveld and Kimberly Girls High School respectively.
The Autumn Camp for Top Achieving Grade 12 learners from disadvantaged communities are taking place at the Diamantveld High School in Kimberley. We have identified 100 learners from 42 schools that will be supported and guided to achieve even higher levels during the NSC examination.
These learners will receive guidance in career choices, study skills and exam techniques. The targeted Subjects are Afrikaans HL, English FAL, Mathematics, Physical Science, Life Sciences, Geography and Accounting.
The Talent Development Autumn Camp for Top Achieving Grade 11 and 12 learners are done in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology and the University of Stellenbosch. This Camp is taking place at Kimberley Girls High in Kimberley and will only focus on Mathematics and Science.
The identified 80 learners, 40 Grade 11 learners and 40 Grade 12 learners that was identified are averaging 70% for both subjects.
