Arts and Culture supports the Celebration of International Archives Day, 9 Jun

Declared by the Round Table of the International Council on Archives (CITRA) in 2007, the day is celebrated internationally by the archival community to inculcate the importance of proper record keeping practices as a way of promoting transparent, accountable and deomocratic governance globally.

The Internationaly Archives Day will be opened for the members of the public to visit the National and Provincial Archives to conduct research and learn about the interdisciplinary nature of archives in its holdings, including topics on the Rivonia Treason Trail, Oral Histroy Recordings of the 1956 Womes's march, of the Convestion for a Democrtic South African and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

The National and Provicial Archival of South Africa strive to make information accessible to all South Africans.  Members of the media are invited to attend.
