Arts and Culture Supports Africa Unite Expo 2017

As part of Africa Month activities, the Department of Arts and Culture, through Mzansi Golden Economy (MGE), funded the Africa Unite Through Arts and Culture Expo that will takes place from 20-21 May 2017 in NASREC, Soweto.  

Celebrated under the theme: “The Year of OR Tambo: Building a Better Africa and a Better World.” the month is recognised as Africa Month to celebrate the founding of the Organisation of African Unity on 25 May 1963, it was on this date that the 25 May was declared as Africa Day as a symbol of unity amongst all Africans.

The event brings together creatives from the continent to showcase their artistic expression through culinary, design, visual arts, performing arts, craft and tourism with the aim to promote collaboration, people to people contact and strengthen relations between South Africa and the rest of the continent. Participating countries are Nigeria, Ghana

Senegal, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Members of the media are invited.

The opening of the expo 2017 will  takes place as follows:
