Arts and Culture hosts colloquium on Media and African Story in Kimberley as part of Africa Month, 16 May

Arts and Culture continues to lead Africa Month activities through dialogues

Arts and Culture Deputy Minister, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi invites members of the media to a colloquium themed, “The Heart of African Narratives: SA Literature in the 21st Century” to be held on Monday, 16 May 2016 at Sol Plaatje University in Kimberley, Northern Province 

The colloquium forms part of the 2016 annual Africa Month Celebration that will be taking place throughout the month of May under the theme, “Building a Better Africa and a Better World.”

The Department of Arts and Culture has brought together some prominent panelists such as Zakes Mda, Mandla Langa and Eusebius Mckaiser to deliberate the on the topic of literature particularly African narratives in South Africa.

The Month of May has been declared Africa Month, to celebrate the founding of the Organisation of African Unity on 25 May 1963, it was on this date that  25 May was declared as Africa Day as a symbol of unity amongst all Africans.  Africa Month also acknowledges the progress that we, as Africa have made and the Africa Month programme will feature all aspects of arts, culture and heritage among African nations.
