The Department of Arts and Culture in partnership with the African World Heritage Fund (AWHF) invites members of the media to the Night of African Legends which will take place on the 5th May 2016 at the Cradle of Humankind. Minister of Arts and Culture, Honourable Nathi Mthethwa will give a keynote address.
The Night of African Legends forms part of the major activities for the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the African World Heritage Fund. This event will showcase African diverse culture through artistic performance by celebrated music icons from the continent.
The programme will also consist of an awards ceremony in recognition of individuals and companies who have played an outstanding role in heritage conservation and sustainable development in Africa. This will include a cultural programme.
The event will bring together representatives from African Governments, business and industry leaders, heritage institutions, local communities and the development sector of Africa.
The outcome of the African World Heritage Fund Youth Forum and the Seminar currently uderway at Maropeng on "African World Heritage… Thinking Ahead" will also be presented at the event.
