Acting KwaZulu-Natal Commissioner Bhekinkosi Langa condemns attack on police

On Saturday, 1 October 2016, at approximately 08:00, the victim was on duty at business premises in King Shaka Street, KwaDukuza, when she was approached by three unknown suspects. The suspects produced firearms, forced the gate open and at gunpoint took an undisclosed amount of cash. The KwaDukuza SAPS members swiftly responded to the business robbery in progress.

The suspects took notice of the police and opened fire, injuring two police officers. It is suspected that one of the suspects was injured during the exchange of gun fire. The suspects managed to flee the scene in their getaway vehicles. The police are still searching for the suspects. Charges of business robbery and attempted murder were opened for investigation at KwaDukuza SAPS.

The Acting KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bhekinkosi Langa condemned the attack of the law enforcers while responding to a business robbery in KwaDukuza. “Our members will not hesitate to defend themselves when attacked by criminals. A search is underway for the suspects involved in the robbery and shooting,” he said.
