Labour extends nomination closing date for Employment Equity awards 2015

The Commission for Employment Equity (CEE) takes this opportunity to inform all designated employers, including those that voluntarily comply with the Employment Equity Act, that the Employment Equity Awards nomination closing date has been extended to 27 March 2015.

The nomination for entry into the inaugural of the Employment Equity (EE) Awards system seeks to recognise deserving organisations and companies that promote the true spirit of transformation. The nominations had initially closed on March 15 before the extension.

The conferring of the EE awards will coincide with the hosting of the EE Indaba for the release/launch of the 15th CEE Annual Report in 2015 and the Public Register, which is expected to be held in July.

The Commission will be hosting this event in accordance with section 30(2) of the Employment Equity Act. All employers are encouraged to participate. The nomination forms are available on the Department of Labour’s website (www.labour.gov.za).

To qualify for any of the awards, all employers should at least meet the requirements of the Act. Participants/nominees will also be subjected to site visits.

The Employment Equity Award categories will be split into various business types such as: State owned enterprises; Non-profit organisations (i.e. Civil society organisations and trade unions); Educational Institutions; Private sector organisations; National Government (Public Sector); Provincial Government (Public Sector); and Local Government (Public Sector.
