Good morning, goeie more, molweni
It is indeed a proud moment to welcome the national minister, the police commissioner, the other commissioners as well as members of the provincial Cabinet to the official launch of the Festive Season Safety programme for the Western Cape.
Today all law enforcement as well as rescue services will symbolically state that they are ready to secure and maintain a safer festive season for the people as well as the visitors to the beautiful province of the Western Cape. An unknown author once made following quote: safety never takes a holiday.
This is indeed true as we, as citizens, can enjoy the festive season, but we also need to be vigilant and make safety a priority. I want to welcome all law enforcement officers and rescue members who will give us a glimpse of their outfit. These men and women will be actively protecting and secure the safety and security of every citizen and visitor, be it in the air, beneath the water or on the surface of our beautiful Western Cape.
Last, but not least, I want to welcome the public and also state to everyone here; you may be proud of our law enforcement and our rescue services. They are ready to jealously guard over your safety, with the strict eye of an eagle and the personal touch of a guardian angel. They are equipped, motivated and ready to make the festive season in the Western Cape and the rest of our country a safe and memorable one.
A renowned Chinese general, Sun Tzu, once said: “strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory; tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.”
Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, the festive season operations have both strategy and tactics and are therefore guaranteed to be successful. However you will be the judge.
I thank you.
