As part of the Child Protection Week campaign, the Social Development Minister, Mrs Edna Molewa will tomorrow, 28 May 2010 visit children's homes and shelters for children living and working on the streets.
Part of this visit is to raise awareness about children's care and protection as well as to assess the facilities' readiness to receive emergency referrals and placement ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The minister will be accompanied by senior government officials of the Western Cape provincial department.

Place: Depart to Homestead intake shelter.

Place: Visit to Homestead intake shelter, Chapel Street, District Six, Zonnebloem
Time: 10h15 to 10h30
Place: Travel to Ons Plek
Time: 10h30 to 11h15
Place: Visit to Ons Plek shelter for girls living and working on the street, 4 Albertus Street, Woodstock, Cape Town
Time: 11h15 to 11h30
Place: Travel to Gugulethu, Nyanga
Time: 11h30 to 13h00
Place: Visit Ethafeni Day Care Centre, Sihume Road, Nyanga, as well as visit to: child headed household and two youth headed households
Time: 13h00
Travel back to Cape Town
