Minister Jeff Radebe has released the discussion document on the
transformation of the judicial system and the role of the judiciary in
the developmental South African State.

He also announced that
the Government would commission research institutions to review the
impact of the decisions of the Constitutional Court since the inception
of the court. The Minister said the judiciary should play a key role in
transforming society and removing inequality.

On the separation
of powers, Minister Radebe said "the Constitution enjoins the three
branches and organs of state to strive for the realisation of the
democratic values that are enshrined in the Constitution, which include
the establishment of an equal society and the eradication of poverty.
The Bill of Rights, which is a cornerstone of democracy in South Africa,
provides the basis and framework for the attainment of these goals". Read more
