National Women's Month

National Women’s Month 2012

South
Africa commemorates Women’s Month in August as a tribute to the
thousands of women who marched on 9 August 1956 to the Union Buildings,
in protest against the extension of Pass Laws to women.

The theme for 2012 is: "56 years of women united against poverty, inequality and unemployment". The commemoration of the National Women’s Day will take place in Tshwane, Gauteng (Union Buildings) on 9 August 2012.
