National Senior Certificate (NSC) 2012 examinations 
Matric examinations started on Monday, 22 October 2012 and will end on Wednesday, 28 November 2012.
Minister
of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga declared the National Examination
system of the Department of Basic Education (DBE) ready to deliver on a
credible and fair examination. All Provincial Education Departments
(PEDs) have sent reports confirming their readiness.
A total of
527 335 full time learners and 120 352 part-time candidates enrolled to
write the NSC examinations for 2012. UMALUSI approved 264 question
papers which were set, moderated, edited and quality assured by the DBE.
The
DBE has made numerous improvements in 2012 to ensure a solid and
credible examination based on a strengthened strategy and quality
assurance for all question papers.
