President Zuma at Trade ConferenceThe African continent is firmly
set on a growth path, with some African countries ranking among the fastest
growing economies of the world.

This was
said by President Jacob Zuma on Wednesday. Addressing the 4th International
Trade and Investment Conference hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry
at Sun City, North West, President Zuma said that Africa’s growth will be
sustained for a long time to come.

The
President attributed the economic growth of Africa to various factors,
including political stability, good governance, integration of regional
economies, infrastructure development, increasing intra-African trade and the
phenomenal growth of the information and communications technology sector.

Closer to
home, the President said the three spheres of government would meet this week
to discuss the implementation of the multi-billion rand infrastructure
development programme. The plan focuses on developing rail, roads, energy,
water, sanitation and the communication sectors.

The conference ends on 12 April.
