Road Show for the fifth BRICS Summit, Durban, KwaZulu Natal

The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, and the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Dr Zweli Mkhize, both of whom are members of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on BRICS, will address the BRICS Summit roadshow as part of the build up towards the fifth BRICS Summit, scheduled for 26 to 27 March 2013.

The purpose of the roadshow is to raise public awareness around the importance of South Africa’s membership of the BRICS and the benefits thereof.

BRICS is an acronym for the grouping of the world’s leading emerging market economies, namely Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The BRICS mechanism aims to promote development cooperation, security, peace and establishing a more equitable world.

The roadshow will precede the media briefing by Minister Nkoana-Mashabane and Premier Mkhize on the progress on preparations of the Summit that is taking place later this month.
