South Africa was appointed by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to facilitate the resolution of obstacles hindering the full implementation of the agreement.

President Zuma will begin his working visit with a briefing from the facilitation team he set up on the progress of the negotiations. The facilitation team, led by the President’s political advisor, Charles Nqakula, arrived in Harare on Monday, 15 March 2010 and held a meeting with the negotiators of the three parties to establish a framework for the President’s discussions.

President Zuma will tomorrow, 17 March 2010 hold bilateral meetings with each of the three political principals of the GPA signatory parties, followed by a plenary meeting with all three.
