Tomorrow, Premier Helen Zille, Provincial MEC for Social Development, Patricia De Lille and Cape Town Mayoral Committee Member for Social Development, Councillor Grant Pascoe, will launch a drug and crime reduction partnership project in the Helderberg.
The project will be driven by a new multi-service drug treatment and outreach centre, called the Helderberg Community Awareness, Rehabilitation and Education Services Centre. The centre will be staffed jointly by provincial and municipal drug treatment, probation and outreach personnel.
It will offer outpatient drug treatment, probation and diversion services to the local courts, as well as outreach and training for the greater Helderberg area. Its staff will work in close collaboration with local non-governmental organisations (NGOs), police, health services, courts and other stakeholders.
