Premier Magashule and Mayor Morule to launch a Cleaning and Greening campaign in Mangaung

Premier Ace Magashule will launch the biggest provincial cleaning campaign in Batho Location, Mangaung Municipality, on Wednesday, 13 April 2011.

Premier Magashule will be joined by Mayor Playfair Morule as part of the Operation Hlasela campaign to keep communities clean and to improve township infrastructure.

The launch in Batho Location is part of the Premier’s commitment that he made during the State of the Province Address last month. The Premier has invited mayors, business and communities to join this campaign to ensure that, as a collective, we keep our environment clean.  

This campaign will include the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) of:

  • repairing potholes
  • paving of roads
  • naming and graveling of streets
  • the provision of physical· addresses, signage, road markings and cutting of exotic trees.

The roll-out of this campaign is part of the province’s service delivery strategy, Operation Hlasela. The theme for the campaign is Hlasela ka Bohlweki Metseng ya Bodulo.

Social partners such as churches will participate in the cleaning up campaign together with government.

The launch of the cleaning campaign in Mangaung Municipality will focus on three areas Batho Location, Heidedal and Turflaagte. A number of streets will be covered including Maphikela, Namane, Africa, Kotsi, Mooki, Hamilton, Mokgato, Sesing, Sonyane, Panyane, Phatlane, Masenya, Motsumi, Dube, etc.

The second phase of this campaign will be used to launch waste recycling projects for communities.
