The Western Cape Minister of Health, Mr Theuns Botha together with the South African Table Grape Association, will celebrate the handover of the newly renovated Orchard Clinic in De Doorns to the Department of Health. The renovations which were undertaken at a cost of one hundred and thirty-five thousand rand (R135 000), were paid for by the South African Table Grape Association. The clinic serves approximately one thousand three hundred (1300) farm workers per month.
Together with the above event, the Minister will award certificates to twenty five (25) farm workers, who through support from the Farmers Association and training from the Cape Women's Forum, have qualified as Home Based Carers. These home based workers will assist the nurse at the Health Post, which serves patients whom previously had only limited access to Healthcare. This new Health Post will be officially opened at this event.
