On Wednesday, 26 May 2010, The Western Cape Department of Health, Premier Helen Zille and the provincial MEC for Health Theuns Botha, will officially launch the HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT) campaign at Michael Mapongwana Community Health Centre in Harare, Khayelitsha.
The theme for the national campaign is "I am responsible". The launch will mark the start of the official campaign for Western Cape with the objectives of reducing new infections by 50 percent by 2011, and strengthening the linkage between HIV care and treatment.
The key component of the campaign is to prioritise actions to prevent transmission of HIV and the treatment and care of infected citizens.
