Oscar Lubabalo Mabuyane was sworn in as the new Premier of the Eastern Cape on 22 May 2019.

He previously served as MEC for Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism in the province.

He had served as part of the Eastern Cape Legislature and Member of the Executive Committee. Mabuyane was elected chairperson of the ANC in the Eastern Cape in 2017.
