EC Health MEC takes health professionals on health day outreach to Tsomo Villages
Eastern Cape Health MEC Helen Sauls-August is taking Health Professionals on a health day community outreach to service villages of Tsomo with much needed critical health care services for chronic illnesses.
The health day outreach will involve 8 doctors, 14 nurses, dieticians, dental trucks and nurses specialising on eye care will spend a day in Xume clinic providing healthcare to villagers from all the wards in Tsomo. The professionals are expected to meet and help an estimated number of 420 people with chronic illnesses from the all the villages.
This year has been declared as the Centenary year of Tata Nelson Mandela and Mama Albertina Sisulu. Mama Sisulu hails from Xolobe village in Tsomo and was a professional nurse. As part of commemorating her centenary the community of Tsomo will have a one day health programme aimed at providing critical healthcare service for chronic illnesses. The department is collaborating with the Health Systems Trust on this outreach.
