The Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training notes with deep sadness the passing of Rev Arnold Makhenkesi Stofile, the Chancellor of the University of Fort Hare.
“The Committee would like to convey its deep-felt condolences to the Stofile family and the University of Fort Hare. His passing is not only a loss for the university, but for the entire higher education sector,” the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training, Ms Connie September, said.
Rev Stofile will be buried on 25 August at his Alice home where he passed away on Monday.
“The nation and the higher education sector will be poorer without him,” Ms September said.
