Advice for South African nationals travelling abroad

When travelling abroad the laws of the foreign country apply to everybody. South Africans are not exempt from local foreign legislation and will not receive special treatment.

Find out about the destination, paying particular attention to issues of personal security, safety, health, immigration, customs and import regulations. South Africans are encouraged to contact the nearest South African diplomatic or consular representative and to carry contact details of their next of kin at all times.
