The Dr. Irvin Khoza Super League is a premier Schools Football League tournament of the top ten footballing schools in the province. These schools are selected from those that won the Kay Motsepe Schools Cup and the runners up.
The competition is presented by the Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in collaboration with the Department of Education and South African Schools Football Association (SASFA).
The tournament was launched in Botshabelo by the MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Mr Dan Kgothule in May 2011.
This year’s prize money is as follows:
- Overall winner - R100 000
- Runners Up - R60 000
- Third position - R40 000
- Fourth position - R10 000.00
- Participating Teams x 6 - R5 000.00 each
The MEC, Mr. Kgothule has made a commitment for the event to be held in Moqhaka for three years until 2013.
Dr. Irvin Khoza made a commitment of R50 000.00 to the school that wins the overall tournament.
He also made a commitment of R50 000.00 to the learner of the school that participated in the tournament with the highest mark in matric examination.
The tournament is played by ten school teams, five in each stream, namely Northern Stream and Southern Stream.
The Northern Stream schools are: Dr. Reginald Cingo, Falisizwe, Phukalla, Moteka and Harmony and the Southern Stream teams are: Brebner, Concordia, Ipetleng, Olien and HTS Louis Botha.
The finals of the tournament will be hosted as follows:
