Minister of Communications Yunus Carrim
Communications Minister Yunus Carrim visited the community of GaMphahlele in the Lepelle-Nkumpi Municipality in Limpopoon 14 October. Ten households, the Tribal Authority Office and the Post Office in GaMphahlele were provided with the Sentech FreeVision package which includes a tv, decoder, dish and installation.

Deputy Minister of Energy Barbara Thompson visits Newcastle
As part of the on-going Imbizo Focus Week, Deputy Minister of Energy Barbara Thompson, accompanied by the Mayor of Newcastle municipality Councillor Rahman, attended the opening of Carbon Dioxide Concentration plant. The event was held in Lanxess industrial site just outside Newcastle on Wednesday, 9 October. According to the management, the plant created more than 600 temporary jobs during its construction phase and 10 permanent jobs after its completion.
Sboniso Lushaba, one of the new Lanxess employees, being interviewed by SABC radio station said he was excited that to be employed by the company. He thinks that government should work together with private sector to create more employment opportunities and develop skills.

Deputy Minister Thompson visited various clinics around Dannhauser to assess service delivery challenges. Dannhauser Mayor Councillor J Phakathi handed over newly built RDP houses to the beneficiaries at Ramaphosa settlement. The mayor urged the community to take good care of their properties and not to vandalise it.

Deliwe Dlamini is happy to be living in a proper house for the first time in her life. She says water is still a problem and the community needs assistance to start community gardens to feed their families.
Deputy Minister Mduduzi Manana visits Sukuma High School and Umgungundlovu Further Education and Training (FET) College
Chairperson of the Student Representative Council (SRC) Mnikazi Zondi stated that they are very happy with the Department of Higher Education and Training for introducing free education in FETs because he felt that funding was and is still the barrier for so many leaners who want to further the education.
School Governing Body Chairperson Mr John Mthembu stressed that there should be technical subjects in High School in order to identify the talent and skills early. He said the lack of resources in township schools like Sukuma High School makes it impossible for teachers to impart knowledge to that leaners. He encourages parents to support their children and take part in the governance of their schools.

Minister of Police Nathi Mthethwa in Mboyi Community in Kwa-Maphumulo, KwaZulu-Natal
As part of Government's Imbizo Focus Week, Minister of Police Nathi Mthetwa visited the Mboyi community in Kwa-Maphumulo, KwaZulu-Natal, to listen to their concerns.
Local residents Zanele Mthethwa and Bawinile Ndimande say they are happy with the work that is done by the South African Police Service (SAPS). They recommended that visible policing and partnership with SAPS will improve safety in the area. They also commended the SAPS for responding quickly if there are incidents in the area
Messrs Zondi and Mkhize from Mambangengalo said they are very happy with the development in the area. However, stock theft has increased and they are requesting for a satellite police station in area because the police station is too far and this have an impact police response.
Funda Ndlovu from Enkanyezini being interviewed by GCIS SCO Bonginkosi Gumede. He said SAPS are doing a good job in combatting crime in the area of Enkanyezini and Mboyi. He emphasised that government must create more job opportunities for the youth because unemployment is closely linked with crime.

The Eastern Cape hosted a panel discussion following the first day of Taking the legislature to the people. It was held at youth centre in Mbizana LM and broadcast live on Alfred Nzo Community Radio and Inkonjane FM.
