Episcopal (AME) Church in Johannesburg

The Minister of Social Development, Dr Zola Skweyiya, will Friday, 3 March,
at 10h45 give the opening address at a summit of the Connectional Lay
Organisation African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church at the Rosebank Hotel in
Johannesburg.
Dr Skweyiya will speak on the topic: Government Funded Programmes Intended
for Alleviation of Poverty - how can the church participate in these programmes
and add value to the lives of destitute communities?
The Summit, which takes place from 3 to 6 March 2006, is a meeting of the
19th Episcopal District Lay Organisation (NEDLO) of the AME Church, which is
the international level of the Church and will be attended by 120 delegates, 50
of whom come from the United States of America (USA).
Under the theme âLaity Sowing Seeds Beyond the Walls; an Agenda of Ministry
and Serviceâ which means the lay organisation is in a mission of interacting
with the community in order to make a difference to the destitute where it can,
through sharing food, clothing and other necessities of life.
