Dr P J Rabie (DA) to ask the Minister of Trade and Industry:
What costs were incurred by his department for the farewell function that was recently arranged for a certain person (name furnished)?
Response:
The farewell function was for five (5) directors, including Ms Wendy Luhabe, whose terms of office on the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) board were ending. The function was held on 11 September 2008 (before my term of office) at the IDC, and was funded by the IDC, not the dti. The function was attended by 120 people and the total cost for it, including vat, was R447 252.
