Mrs J F Terblanche (DA) to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:

(a) How many mobile units does her department currently own in each province?
(b) In which provinces do they operate, (c) what are the operating times and (d) how many officials man a unit at any given time?

Reply:

The department currently owns and operates one hundred and seventeen (117) mobile units. The information for (a) to (d) is provided in the table, below:

Zone/province: Zone 1: KwaZulu-Natal
Number of units: 16
Operating time start: 09:30 or depending on the distance travelled per unit
Operating time end: 15h00 or until the last applicant / client has been attended to
Number of officials: Three (3) the driver and two (2) administration clerks

Zone/province: Zone 1: Mpumalanga
Number of units: 12
Operating time start: 09h00 or depending on the distance travelled per unit
Operating time end: 15h00 or depending on the distance travelled between the service point and the office of departure
Number of officials: Three (3) the driver and two (2) administration clerks

Zone/province: Zone 2: Free State
Number of units: 11
Operating time start: 08h00
Operating time end: Until all applicants clients have been attended to
Number of officials: Three (3) the driver and two (2) administration clerks
