Mr MJR de Villiers (Democratic Alliance, Western Cape) to ask the Minister of Basic Education:
(1) Whether any buildings are currently rented by her department for use of (a) offices and or (b) schools; if so, (i) which offices in each (aa) town and (bb) province and (ii) what is the monthly rental for each of the buildings;
(2) Whether there are any arrears of rent for any of the buildings; if so, what are the relevant details in each case;
(3) (a) Who are the owners of each of the buildings and (b) what is the term of rental agreement for each of the buildings for each contract?
Reply:
1. (a) No buildings are currently rented by the Department of Basic Education.
(b) Not applicable, provincial Education Departments are responsible for school buildings
