Ms MW Makgate (African National Congress, North West) to ask the Minister of Basic Education:
(1) When will her department put a policy in place to ensure uniformity with regard to learner transport in each province?
Reply:
1. In 2009 the Department of Transport in collaboration with the national
Department of Basic Education has developed a draft learner transport policy.
The document is currently being discussed internally in the two departments and will be released for public comment. The two departments are working together to finalise the policy by December 2010.
