Ngonzo leads a delegation to clean up Dimbaza Old Age Home

Eastern Cape Department of Education’s Superintendent General Mthunywa Ngonzo, together with members of DEXCO will head to Dimbaza Old Age Home later today to clean up as their contribution to Nelson Mandela Day.

Employees at the Eastern Cape Department of Education Head Office put their heads, hearts and hands together in support of the 67 minutes dedicated to Nelson Mandela Day on the 18 July 2013.

Mandela Day is an initiative of the Nelson Mandela Foundation and its sister organisations. The Nelson Mandela Day was first launched in 2011 and has been declared by the United Nations General Assembly as International Nelson Mandela Day. The celebration of Mandela Day is to focus on the core values that informed Nelson Mandela’s life and how these values encourage us today to advance the nations imperatives to promote quality learning and teaching, to strengthen social cohesion and build a peace loving nation.

There was a spirit of excitement, dedication and pride as employees from every section came together to paint the MEC’s front wall, cut grass and tidy the garden. Before the employees started in their way forward to achieving their 67 minutes, everybody stood together to sing Happy Birthday to our Tata Nelson Mandela.

In addition to this the Special Transformatory Programmes Unit has dedicated its 67 minutes to planting trees at Metele Higher Primary and in collaboration with the South African Police Services (SAPS) a safety demonstration for learners with disabilities will take place at Fundisa Special School later on today.
