Minister Zizi Kodwa: Launch of Maphumulo FM Online Radio

Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Zizi Kodwa remarks on the Launch of Maphumulo FM Online Radio

Let me express my sincere gratitude to the community of Maphumulo in KwaZulu-Natal for their resilience in seeing the Maphumulo online community radio station through to the launch stage.

The timing of the launch could not be better, as it takes place at a time when the country is crying for more communication platforms to promote social cohesion, nation building, moral and ethical upliftment with primary focus on the youth.

I have no doubt that platforms such as Maphumulo FM online radio will play a significant role in spreading positive messages amongst communities whilst reducing moral decay, with special focus on eradicating gender-based violence and femicide.

This platform will also be a useful tool for social cohesion advocates to promote positive lifestyle and spread ethical conduct amongst communities.

I am certain that Maphumulo FM online radio will also present young people, who have no access to television and won’t be able to physically attend major events like the upcoming International Table Tennis Championships and Netball World Cup, to be held in KZN and Western Cape respectively, with an opportunity to be part of such events.

A platform like Maphumulo FM must be put to good use and let’s all ensure that it serves the creative industry well and contribute to helping Kwa-Maphumulo arts and crafts practitioners with dreaming big as they aspire to win accolades like the Grammy Awards.

As a parting shot, my message to the local creatives, let us continue to promote positive vibes in our communities and work with the youth in strengthening social cohesion and nation building.

I wish Maphumulo FM online radio the best of luck and hope that the station will be put to good use and will be able to nature, promote and grow Kwa – Maphumulo creative and sporting talent.

I thank you!
