Minister Nkwinti to address delegates from 17 states at the 44th Minister’s Conference in Cape Town

The Department of Rural Development and Land Reform (DRDLR) is inviting the media to the 44th Minister’s Conference taking place in Cape Town on 22 and 23 November 2010. The conference is organised by Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources Development (RCMRD). The focus of the conference is the adoption of the new strategic plan for mapping of resources as the year 2010 marks the end of the implementation of the strategic plan 2007 and 2010. The 2011 programme is based on the new strategic plan that is expected to be approved by this conference for 2011 until 2014.

Delegates attending the conference will be coming from 17 countries across the African continent and they are Botswana, Comoros, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Somalia, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Burundi, Rwanda and Seychelles.

The RCMRD’s mandate is to promote the use of geo-information in sustainable development in the centre member states and it is well placed to provide this service to spur growth and development in the region.

The Minister for the DRDLR Mr Gugile Nkwinti will deliver the key note address at the official opening conference on Monday.
