Madume go lona lotlhe!!
It is a great honour and privilege for me to be once again celebrating the International Day of Families with the people of the North West Province albeit today. The celebration of this day is observed annually on May 15th around the globe.
Its proclamation by United Nations in 1994 was a positive response to changing social and economic structures globally; which had affected and still affect the stability of family units in many regions of the world we live in.
Ladies and gentlemen, we therefore are celebrating this day as a country and as a province to highlight the importance of families.
This year’s International Day of Families highlights the need for work-family balance. The aim is to help workers everywhere provide for their families financially and emotionally, while also contributing to the socio-economic development of their societies.
It also puts much more emphasis on the need for workers including fathers, mothers and bread-winners to take care of their families by providing for all their needs, be it financial and emotional needs.
As Maslow puts it his hierarchy of needs, “….A human being needs love from the families, safety, confidence or self-esteem, food and finally self-actualisation….”
Rotlhe bagaetsho re tlhoka go ratiwa mo malapeng a rona – ka gonne rotlhe re bonwe re le batho re na le maikutlo. Ka go tlamela malapa a rona bagaetsho, re tla kgona go fenya ntwa kgatlhanong le bohuma le bosenyi.
Fa re retelelwa ke go tlamela malapa a rona re le batsadi, re le bagolo, ga re itirele molemo ope mme re aga setshaba se se senang motheo.
Profense ya rona ya Bokone Bophirima e itemogela palo e e golang ka bonako ya bana ba ba dulang mo mebileng. Gantsi ba kopa madi mo bakgweetsing ba dijanaga mo makopanelong a ditsela mo ditoropong.
Le fa gona maipato a bona a ikaegile ka tlala, re pateletshega go dira ka natla go tlamela malapa a rona le go a tlhokomela ka botswapelo.
The importance of a family unit cannot be over-emphasised. It is the foundation and the only initial stage upon which a person’s personality is built.
How someone behaves and what someone become in life is very much dependent on the family life. Psychologists believe that a child learns the most from his or her family life. The way your family members deal with you has a lifelong effect on your personality.
Family unit happens to be the most important part of your life till you grow up. The children are usually closer to their parents and their siblings as compared to any other person in the world.
The children who have a sound family background and who belong to a family with strong family ties are almost always happier.
Re ikuela mo bagolo le mongwe le mongwe yo o salang le bana mo lelapeng go ba godisa sentle, go ba tlhapisa re go netefatsa fa ba tsena sekolo. In today’s world a big social problem is that the family unit is not being considered as important by the people as it used to be.
We are always too busy for our families. We don’t have ample time for our families. The time period for which we live together as a family is slowly but surely fading away. Let us use this day to slow down and spend time with our families.
As we commemorate this day we re-iterate and re-emphasise the statement that ‘we remain steadfast in our resolve to ensure safety and protection of vulnerable groups within communities.’
Tlhokomelang batho ba rona ba ba nang le bogole , bagodi ba rona le bana ka kakaretso.
Let us all work together to ensure that our communities are formed from stable family units so as to create better and prosperous societies for future generations.
In conclusion, I would like to thank Kgosi Lekoko for opening doors for us to host the celebration of this day here, Departmental organising team, media, officials, baagi ba Tshilamolo le metse e e mabapi.
I thank you.
