I would like to take this opportunity to thank Apostle Mokoena and the Congregation for the invitation to address this noble institution of God that has gone beyond the conventional call of duty to work with government to attain its strategic objectives.
It is with great pleasure and humility for us to accept this invitation to attend this very important occasion; where as fellow congregants we assemble here today united by our common call to serve God; but at the same time to mobilise society behind the vision of social cohesion, unity and nation building.
We do this inspired by your conviction and determination to make sport and recreation a centrepiece for spiritual revival, human solidarity and comradeship.We are inspired by your commitment to encourage youth in church to make sport a pillar of religious and spiritual upliftment.
We are equally rejuvenated to witness the church and the children of the Mighty Saviour take into themselves this huge responsibility to assist the state in its endeavours to rid our society in general and youth in particular from all social ills.
Your astute integration of ‘abstract and concrete’; your reciprocal approach to ‘spirit and substance; your symbiotic linkage of ‘idea and matter’ shows us, without fear of contradiction, your grasp of the “Liberation Theology”; a deep understanding of a “People’s Theology”; a Theology full of life and reality.
It is in this regard that we in Sport and Recreation South Africa applauds the initiative of the National Youth Mokete and would like to endorse it a as showpiece and a theatre of Sport Development and Sport Excellence in the religious communities and sectors of the Republic of South Africa.It should become an instrument to mobilise society and other churches and denominations to effectively integrate faith, spirit and healthy lifestyle.They should be encouraged to make sport a fashion; and playing sport fashionable!
Ladies and gentlemen, we have heard your cries for sport equipment and sport attire; and today we’ve come here to respond to your unwavering calls.Today, Sport and Recreation South Africa (SRSA), would like to donate to this congregation the following:
- Football Kits for the nine provincial winners;
- Netball Kits for the nine provincial winners;
- Nine Soccer-Match officials’ kits;
- Fifty Soccer balls;
- Eighteen sets of bibs;
- Twenty Netball balls;
- Nine drum majorettes kit for provincial winners; and
- Two portable Netball poles.
We do this inspired by our vision of an “Active and Winning Nation” which commits us to work with all stakeholders and sport loving people of the Republic that would like to work together with SRSA to realise its stated objectives.We want to make the “Active and Winning Nation” through sport project a rallying point for sport development and sport excellence through partnerships in sport and recreation.
It is against this background that SRSA would like to partner with the Religious Youth through initiatives of this nature to make a vision of a “Sport For All” a reality, not a pipedream.
In the same token, we are excited with your commitment to use conventional methodologies to mould and build a holistic human being; a whole person.Indeed, the failure of many institutions; whether a learning or/and religious institution; is due to its limitation in attitudes and strategies towards human development.This failure is based on a ‘theory and practise’ to mould and build a part or certain parts of an individual or human being and uncritically excluding other parts to chance.Hence, you see their experiments and discoveries fail; they fail because their strategies for human development do not connect or interconnect all the parts; they tend to prioritise a particular part or certain parts.
Ladies and gentlemen, a successful and a winning human being is an individual with a whole, holistic and formidable self; not a half-done self.We thank you for choosing that pedagogy.
May God, the Almighty, sprinkle you all with His everlasting living waters? May your overall future endeavours be “Holly Godly” fulfilled throughout the rough times and obstacles on your way as combatants of the war for economic freedom to push back the frontiers of poverty and underdevelopment.
Keep it up! God Bless you!
Thank you, very much!
