South African Police Service on winner of Child Protection Week
colouring competition

Announcement of winner of the colouring competition:
Celebration of Child Protection Week

19 September 2007

South African Police Service (SAPS) Communication and Liaison Services: Head
Office published a special supplement called Primary Matters in The Star,
Pretoria News, Cape Argus and Daily News to promote child protection and to
celebrate Child Protection Week. Learners were invited to enter a colouring-in
competition and to write a message to the SAPS. The best entry stood a chance
to win a visit to the SAPS with five friends.

Rethabile Mmonegi seven from the Bernard Isaacs Primary School in
Coronationville was judged to be the winner. Rethabile and five friends
accompanied by her father will be the guests of Communication and Liaison
Services at the Open Day to be held on 20 September 2007, at the Pilditch
Stadium in Pretoria. This will give the children the opportunity to see
exciting live displays of the various units of the SAPS and to share in the
festivities of Police Music and Cultural Association (Polmusca). They will each
also receive a bag of SAPS promotional items.

The educational supplement was aimed at learners in grade one to three as
well as their teachers and caregivers or parents. Ten thousand extra copies
were printed and distributed among schools in priority station precincts by
Provincial Communication offices. The organisers congratulate Rethabile on her
success and hopes that she will enjoy the planned activities.
