A 24 year old man was fatally shot and his girlfriend raped and injured
during a hijacking in Meadowlands, Soweto, in the early hours of this morning
at about 04h00.
It is alleged that the deceased and a woman were driving in Meadowlands when
they were confronted by two unknown men. They shot the deceased and hijacked
his white Toyota Stallion with registration number BTW 224 GP. The suspects
kidnapped the girlfriend.
The suspects parked the vehicle next to a house in Meadowlands and raped the
woman. When they shot her in the thigh an owner of a nearby house went out to
investigate. He was shot and injured in the hand by the suspects.
The suspects left the woman and fled the scene with the vehicle. Both the
injured victims were taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. The
suspects are still at large. They are armed and dangerous and should not be
confronted. Anyone who knows their whereabouts should contact the nearest
police station or call Crime Stop number 08600 10111.
The police are investigating cases of hijacking, murder, two attempted
murder, kidnapping and rape. Investigations are continuing.
